Qatar urges US-Iran to continue talks, warns against adventurism in Strait of Hormuz

Doha (Web Desk): Qatar has expressed strong support for Pakistan’s diplomatic role in easing tensions between the United States and Iran, while stating that there is no need for any additional mediators in the ongoing negotiation process.

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs described Pakistan’s mediation efforts as “commendable” and rejected the idea of expanding the circle of intermediaries in the dialogue.

During a regular press briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al-Ansari said that Pakistan is currently playing an effective bridge-building role between Washington and Tehran. He noted that Qatar remains in continuous coordination with regional and international partners and strongly supports a peaceful diplomatic resolution to the tensions.

Al-Ansari warned that any prolonged deadlock in negotiations could push the region toward a “frozen conflict,” which could potentially flare up again at any time in the future.

Without naming any specific country, the Qatari spokesperson also reacted firmly to threats or discussions regarding the possible closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

He said that using the strait as a bargaining tool is unacceptable, stressing that the waterway is directly linked to global energy security and that the world cannot afford any “irresponsible adventurism” in the region.

Commenting on broader developments in the Middle East, Al-Ansari reiterated Qatar’s continued support for Lebanon and its armed forces, and referred to ongoing coordination with international partners under a five-member committee framework aimed at stabilizing the region.
