Riyadh (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh on Monday, where the two leaders held in-depth discussions on strengthening bilateral relations, regional developments, and matters of shared interest.
At the Al Yamamah Palace, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman received the Pakistani leader with warmth and cordiality.
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir also attended the meeting.
During their interaction, both sides reviewed the state of their long-standing partnership and agreed to expand cooperation in diverse areas, reaffirming their mutual desire to advance economic and strategic collaboration.
The conversation also touched on regional and international issues, with both leaders expressing a shared vision for peace, progress, and prosperity.
A key focus of the dialogue was on boosting trade and investment between the two nations, highlighting their intention to further deepen economic ties.
PM Shehbaz is heading a high-powered delegation to the FII9, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and special assistants Tariq Fatemi and Bilal bin Saqib.
The delegation is representing Pakistan at the global investment forum, which brings together heads of state, business magnates, innovators, and policymakers under the theme “The Key to Prosperity: Unlocking New Frontiers of Growth.”
The premier arrived in the Saudi capital on the invitation of the crown prince to participate in the ninth Future Investment Initiative (FII9) conference.
According to the Foreign Office (FO), the conference will host wide-ranging discussions on global economic and geopolitical challenges, emphasizing innovation, sustainability, and inclusive growth.
It added that during his stay, PM Shehbaz will hold further engagements with Saudi leaders to explore new opportunities for partnership in trade, investment, energy, and manpower sectors
The premier is also expected to meet other world leaders and heads of international organizations on the sidelines of the event to present Pakistan’s investment potential and its commitment to sustainable development in line with the FII’s “Think, Exchange, and Act” vision.
The FO stated that this visit reflects Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to strengthen economic diplomacy and establish durable partnerships in technology, investment, and development sectors.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have recently broadened their engagement, moving beyond traditional cooperation to new strategic areas.
During PM Shehbaz’s previous visit to Riyadh on September 18, the two sides signed a landmark defence agreement, pledging that any act of aggression against one would be considered an attack on both, marking a significant step in their evolving alliance.
