Pakistan, Qatar reaffirm commitment to further boost security cooperation

Doha (Web Desk): Pakistan and Qatar have renewed their resolve to broaden security cooperation, enhance coordination between their interior ministries, and work together in support of regional peace and stability during a high-level meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Qatar’s Interior Minister and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

The discussions centered on strengthening collaboration across a range of security-related fields, with both leaders reviewing measures to further develop their strategic partnership.

They also reaffirmed their determination to reinforce institutional links between the two interior ministries, stressing that sustained cooperation is essential for effectively addressing common security concerns.

The ministers also exchanged views on the evolving regional situation and the wider security landscape, emphasizing that close coordination between Pakistan and Qatar would contribute to preserving peace, stability, and collective security in the region.

Both sides agreed to intensify cooperation on internal security matters, reflecting the steadily expanding strategic relationship and shared commitment to confronting emerging challenges together.

Speaking during the meeting, Naqvi said Pakistan is fully committed to strengthening collaboration with Qatar in the security sector as well as other areas of mutual interest. He noted that enhanced institutional coordination would further reinforce the longstanding friendship and close partnership enjoyed by the two countries.

Naqvi also conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to his Qatari counterpart over the passing of his father, former Amir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

He praised the late leader for his outstanding role in Qatar’s transformation and modernization, acknowledging his lasting contribution to the country's emergence as a prominent regional and global nation.

The Qatari interior minister reaffirmed Doha’s strong commitment to its ties with Pakistan, saying his country places great value on the bilateral relationship and remains dedicated to expanding cooperation with Pakistan across all areas of shared interest.
