Washington (Web Desk/Agencies): Washington has widened its sanctions campaign against Iran, with the US Treasury Department announcing new measures on Friday against an Iranian national and a Hong Kong-based firm allegedly connected to efforts to bypass American sanctions.

Among those targeted is Reza Mohammad Taeedi, an Iranian citizen living in Dubai who heads the Dubai branch of Iran’s Bank Melli.

His name has been added to the Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) List maintained by the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).

The US authorities said Taeedi is also facing secondary sanctions and was designated under measures relating to counterterrorism and Iran.

In a separate move, the Treasury Department placed Kameng Trading Limited, a company based in Hong Kong, under sanctions through an executive order concerning Iran. The firm was set up in July 2024.

The latest action was announced as Washington also moved against Banque Misr’s operations in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), accusing them of providing support to Iranian shadow-banking networks.
