PM Shehbaz to visit Iran on July 2

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to undertake a two-nation official visit, beginning with Iran on July 2, diplomatic sources said.

According to diplomatic sources, the Prime Minister will travel to Iran to attend the funeral rites of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. During the visit, he is also expected to meet senior Iranian leadership to express condolences and discuss matters of mutual interest.

The meetings in Iran are expected to focus on strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Iran, reviewing the regional security situation, and exploring avenues for enhanced cooperation in political, economic, and security domains.

Sources further said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will depart for Turkey from Tehran on July 3. In Turkey, he is scheduled to meet Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on July 4.

The agenda of the meeting will include Pakistan-Turkey bilateral relations, with emphasis on expanding trade and investment ties, boosting cooperation in the defence sector, and exchanging views on the evolving regional and global situation.

Diplomatic circles view the visits as part of Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to strengthen engagement with key regional partners and promote economic and strategic cooperation.
