PM Shehbaz in Iran on a two-day official visit

Tehran (Web Desk/Agencies): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Tehran on Monday for a two-day official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran, marking an important step toward strengthening bilateral relations.

Upon his arrival at Mehrabad Airport, the premier was warmly welcomed by Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri-Moghaddam, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran Mudassir Tipu, and senior diplomatic officials.

The contingents of the Iranian armed forces presented a salute to the visiting dignitary.

Accompanied by a high-level delegation that includes Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi, Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Tariq Fatemi, Prime Minister Sharif will engage in a series of important meetings.

During his visit, PM Shehbaz is scheduled to meet Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian at the historic Saadabad Palace in Tehran, where he will be received with an official guard of honour.

Discussions will focus on enhancing bilateral cooperation and recent regional developments, particularly concerning India’s aggression toward Pakistan.

PM Shehbaz is expected to express gratitude to the Iranian leadership and people for their continued support of Pakistan and their efforts to promote peace in South Asia.

In addition to meeting President Pezeshkian, the Pakistani delegation will hold talks with Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei to address key bilateral and regional issues of mutual concern.

PM Shehbaz and his delegation will also attend a state banquet hosted by President Pezeshkian in their honour.

The visit is anticipated to strengthen diplomatic, economic, and strategic ties between the two neighboring countries.
