Police, Levies personnel among 11 martyred in Kalat, 12 terrorists killed across Balochistan

Quetta (Web Desk): At least 11 people, including police and Balochistan Levies personnel, were killed in a gun attack in Kalat on Monday.

According to Kalat Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dostin Dashti, those martyred in the incident included a police sub-inspector (SI), four Levies personnel and five citizens.

He said that the suspects fled the neighbourhood after the gun attack, while police have launched an area clearance operation.

As per the police authorities, an exchange of fire between police and armed men continued since last night on Kalat's national highway and city.

Meanwhile, Kalat Assistant Commissioner Aftab Ahmed and a Levies man were also injured in the firing.

Earlier, the security sources said that terrorists carried out multiple attacks across Balochistan on the night of August 24-25.

In response, security forces and law enforcement agencies killed 12 militants and injured several others. The operation will continue until all attackers are neutralised, the sources added.

According to security officials, several terrorists were also injured during the operations.

The Radio Pakistan reported that terrorists have carried out cowardly attacks at several places,” the report said, without specifying the locations of the attacks, the Radio Pakistan reported.

“Security forces and law enforcement agencies are responding effectively to these attacks, and the operation will continue until all terrorists are eliminated,” the report added.

According to reports, armed men had attacked Pasni police station and after thrashing personnel, burnt three vehicles and motorcycles parked there. Another police station in Suntsar, a coastal town of Gwadar, was ransacked and the attackers took away official weapons.

Earlier, At least 23 passengers were killed after being offloaded from passenger buses and trucks in the Rarasham area of Balochistan's Musakhel district in the early hours of Monday (today).

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) MusaKhel Ayub Achakzai, the armed men blocked the inter-provincial highway in the Rarasham area of the district, offloaded the passengers from the buses and shot them dead after checking their identities. All the persons belonged to different areas of Punjab.

Musakhail Assistant Commissioner Najeeb Kakar also confirmed that armed men blocked the inter-provincial highway and offloaded passengers from several buses.

The Musakhel AC said the armed men also set fire to 10 vehicles.
