3 killed, 12 injured in gun attack on passenger coach in Balochistan's Kalat

Kalat (Web Desk): A tragic incident occurred near the Nimgarh Cross area in Kalat district on Tuesday when armed assailants launched a deadly attack on a passenger coach, resulting in the deaths of three individuals and injuries to at least 12 others.

According to police officials, the passenger coach, operated by a local transport company, was en route from Karachi to Quetta when it came under attack. As the vehicle approached a mountainous area near Kalat, gunmen—believed to be hiding in the surrounding hills—attempted to stop the bus.

When the driver refused to comply, the attackers opened fire on the moving vehicle and also threw a hand grenade, causing chaos and severe damage. The sudden and violent nature of the attack left passengers with little time to react.

Rescue teams and local authorities quickly arrived at the scene, shifting the deceased and the injured to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital. Hospital officials confirmed that a medical emergency was declared, and additional doctors and paramedical staff were summoned to handle the crisis. Two of the injured are said to be in critical condition and are receiving intensive care.

In response to the incident, security forces including the police and Frontier Constabulary launched a search operation in the surrounding areas to track down the perpetrators. Authorities believe the attackers fled into the nearby rugged terrain immediately after the assault.

Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind confirmed the incident and stated that Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has taken serious notice of the attack. The Chief Minister has ordered the Inspector General of Police and the Additional Secretary of the Interior to submit a detailed report on the incident at the earliest.
