DPM Dar, UNGA president discuss matters of mutual interest

New York (Web Desk): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar met Dr. Khalilur Rahman, President of the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session, in New York on the sidelines of the ongoing UNGA proceedings.

During the meeting, Ishaq Dar congratulated Dr. Khalilur Rahman on his election to the presidency and conveyed Pakistan’s readiness to extend its support while maintaining constructive engagement with the General Assembly under his stewardship.

The two sides reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the principles of multilateralism and highlighted the United Nations’ important and central role in promoting international cooperation. They also exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.

DPM Dar expressed confidence in Dr. Khalilur Rahman’s leadership and assured him that Pakistan would remain actively engaged in supporting efforts to advance the agenda and work of the General Assembly.

In a separate meeting, DPM/FM Dar held talks with Antigua and Barbuda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Barbuda Affairs, E.P. Chet Greene, in New York on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly session.

The two ministers reviewed bilateral relations and expressed a common interest in deepening ties between Pakistan and Antigua and Barbuda. They also discussed expanding cooperation in areas of mutual benefit, particularly education, diplomatic training and other fields of shared interest.

The discussions also covered opportunities to enhance collaboration at international forums, with particular emphasis on cooperation through the Commonwealth and the UN.
