Lahore (Web Desk): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has instructed Deputy Commissioners and District Police Officers across the province to ensure strict checking of buses and bus terminals ahead of Eid-ul-Azha across the province.
She emphasized in her directive that all transport operators must clearly display official fare charts at bus stands and inside buses so that passengers are charged fairly and no one is subjected to excessive fares.
The chief minister further ordered that buses found involved in overcharging should have their route permits cancelled immediately, while bus terminals violating the rules must face suspension or revocation of their licences.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Transport Department has set up a complaint helpline (1071) for commuters, allowing passengers to report any incidents of overcharging so that prompt action can be taken.
