Judicial reforms must ensure timely and effective justice: CJP Yahya Afridi

Islamabad (Web Desk): Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi underscored the importance of treating litigants with the utmost dignity and respect, highlighting their pivotal role in the justice system.

According to details, the CJP said this during a consultative meeting with senior judicial officials, where the focus was on enhancing access to justice.

The meeting was attended by Supreme Court (SC) Registrar Muhammad Salim Khan, development expert Mr Sher Shah, Director General (DG) Federal Judicial Academy Mr Hayat Ali Shah and Secretary Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan (LJCP) Syeda Tanzeela Sabahat.

During the meeting, CJP Afridi reviewed the ongoing reforms, emphasizing the digitalization of court processes, enhanced accessibility, streamlined procedures, accountability, and increased transparency in judicial operations.

He noted that the reforms aim not only to reduce case pendency but also to ensure that litigants receive timely and effective justice.

The CJP stressed that litigants, as the core stakeholders of the justice system, deserve the utmost respect, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to justice and its positive public image.

The session highlighted significant milestones achieved to date, including the successful implementation of the E-Filing system.

Meanwhile, updates from the IT Directorate were shared, illustrating the progress made in integrating digital technologies designed to further enhance the accessibility, efficiency, and transparency of the judicial process.
