Pakistan celebrates Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) with religious zeal and fervour

Islamabad (Web Desk): Eid Milad-un-Nabi (Peace Be Upon Him) is being celebrated across Pakistan today (Wednesday) as Muslims observe 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal with deep devotion, respect and religious fervour.

The occasion is being observed through special prayers, religious programmes, processions and other activities across the country.

The day dawned with a 31-gun salute in federal capital Islamabad and with 21-gun salutes in the provincial capitals.

Special prayers were offered after Fajr prayer for the unity and solidarity of the Muslim Ummah, along with prayers for Pakistan’s peace, development and prosperity.

The federal government has declared a public holiday across the country in connection with the religious occasion.

The main event of the day will be the International Seerat-un-Nabi Conference to be held in the Federal Capital today.

The theme of the conference is Protection, Development and Character Building of the Younger Generation in the Light of Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH)

Milad processions are being taken out in all cities in which Ulema and Khateeb are highlighting all aspects of life of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), stressing adherence to his teachings and Sunnah.

A wide range of religious programmes, including seminars, conferences and Mehfil-e-Naat sessions, are being arranged in almost all parts of Pakistan.

These events will focus on the life, Seerah and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Religious processions and rallies are also scheduled in several cities.

Mosques across the country will hold Milad gatherings, along with Durood and Salam sessions, particularly tonight. Religious scholars will address the gatherings and discuss the life, character and teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

The festive atmosphere is visible across cities as streets, residential areas, shopping centres and mosques have been decorated with green flags, illuminated lights and colourful banners.

Public and private buildings have also been lit up, while decorated arches and gateways have been installed at prominent roads and commercial areas.

As part of the celebrations, devotees have prepared beautifully decorated replicas of the Kaaba and Masjid al-Nabawi as a symbol of their love and respect for the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

Almost every major city and town, including Lahore, will witness religious processions and rallies. Participants will recite Durood during the processions, while food and sweets will also be distributed among those taking part in the celebrations.

Religious scholars have stressed that devotion to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) should not be confined to celebrating the occasion alone.

They said that the real expression of love for the Holy Prophet (PBUH) is to follow his teachings, adopt his noble character and make his exemplary way of life a guiding principle for success in both this world and the hereafter.
