CM Maryam Nawaz orders timely evacuation amid flood threats in Punjab

Lahore (Web Desk): In anticipation of looming flood threats, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has issued urgent instructions for the swift evacuation of residents stranded in vulnerable regions.

Expressing grave concern over the potential danger, she called for the full mobilization of all available resources to safeguard lives and ensure timely relief efforts.

The Punjab CM stressed that immediate action must be taken to move people from riverside settlements and low-lying localities to secure areas.

She also emphasized the importance of relocating livestock from rural zones expected to be affected by rising waters. Authorities have been told to act promptly to prevent any loss, human or animal.The chief minister underscored the need for relentless and close monitoring of water levels in the Sutlej River and other flood-sensitive rivers across the province.

She directed officials to ensure comprehensive facilities for those displaced by floods, including proper shelter, food supplies, medical services, and immediate availability of snakebite antidotes in at-risk areas.

Officials in districts most likely to be impacted — including Kasur, Pakpattan, and Taunsa Sharif — have been placed on high alert. Relevant departments, including district administrations and Rescue 1122, have been directed to remain fully prepared and execute their responsibilities with complete diligence.

The Punjab CM made it clear that any form of carelessness or delay in action would be dealt with strictly and would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
