Electric double-decker bus service planned for Islamabad

Islamabad (Web Desk): An electric double-decker bus service is being planned in the federal capital to provide citizens as well as local and international tourists with a modern and eco-friendly way to explore the city.

According to the city administration, the service will allow passengers to visit Islamabad’s famous scenic, recreational and historical attractions while travelling on modern double-decker buses.

The proposed routes will connect more than 15 major tourist and recreational destinations across the capital, including Lake View Park, Shakarparian, Pakistan Monument, Faisal Mosque, Daman-e-Koh and D-Chowk.

Officials said the new service would offer residents and visitors a unique opportunity to experience Islamabad’s natural beauty and prominent landmarks in a more convenient and enjoyable way.

Each electric double-decker bus will have a seating capacity of up to 90 passengers and will provide modern travel facilities while promoting environmentally friendly public transport.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) said providing improved and modern transport facilities to citizens and tourists remains one of its key priorities. The new bus service is also expected to contribute to the promotion of tourism in Islamabad.
