Pakistan, Qatar reaffirm shared commitment to further strengthen strategic partnership

Doha (Web Desk): Pakistan and Qatar have reaffirmed shared determination to strengthen their strategic partnership and maintain close coordination on matters of bilateral, regional, and international significance.

This mutual commitment was expressed during a meeting in Doha between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.

During the discussions, the leaders reviewed the state of bilateral relations and exchanged perspectives on regional and global developments.

They highlighted the enduring fraternal ties between the two nations and welcomed the increasing pace of collaboration across political, economic, and institutional domains.

They also discussed pressing regional concerns, including the evolving situation in Gaza and security dynamics across the Gulf.

Prime Minister Sharif praised Qatar’s proactive diplomatic role in encouraging dialogue and reducing tensions in the region.

Both sides emphasized the importance of resolving disputes peacefully and upholding international law, including the principles outlined in the United Nations (UN) Charter.

The conversation further explored ways to expand cooperation in trade and investment, energy, defence, labour mobility, and cultural initiatives, supported by a joint task force established to accelerate collaborative efforts in these areas.

Both leaders stressed the need to implement decisions from recent high-level meetings and reinforce institutional mechanisms such as the Joint Ministerial Commission and Bilateral Political Consultations.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi.
