Hot, humid weather likely to persist in most parts of country on Tuesday: PMD

Islamabad (Web Desk): The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted predominantly hot and humid conditions in most parts of the country on Tuesday, while some northern regions may see partly cloudy skies during the afternoon.

Islamabad and adjoining areas are expected to remain hot and humid throughout the day.

Similar weather conditions are likely across most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), although Swat, Kohistan, Battagram and Shangla could witness partly cloudy weather in the afternoon.

Most areas of Punjab are also likely to remain hot and humid. The same conditions are expected in large parts of Sindh and Balochistan, while coastal areas in both provinces may experience partly cloudy skies.

Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are forecast to remain mainly dry, with partly cloudy conditions possible during the afternoon.

Over the last 24 hours, hot and humid weather continued across much of the country. However, isolated areas of northeast Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Dir and Larkana received rain along with strong winds and thunderstorms.

Sibi recorded the highest amount of rainfall at 31 millimetres, while Barkhan received 23mm. In Gilgit-Baltistan, Skardu and Gupis each recorded 3mm, whereas Babusar received 2mm. Dir and Larkana reported 1mm of rain each.

Turbat and Dalbandin remained the hottest locations, with maximum temperatures reaching 42 degrees Celsius. Nokkundi and Bahawalnagar followed with temperatures of 41C.

The temperature range recorded in major cities was 22/35C in Islamabad, 28/38C in Lahore, 27/34C in Karachi, 26/37C in Peshawar, 21/35C in Quetta, 21/35C in Gilgit, 22/37C in Muzaffarabad, 12/29C in Skardu, 16/24C in Murree, 28/38C in Faisalabad and 25/39C in Multan.
