Illegal Afghan refugees challenge host countries’ security, Turkiye steps up deportations

Ankara (Web Desk): Undocumented Afghan migrants are increasingly being viewed as a growing security and law-and-order concern in several host countries.

After similar enforcement actions in Germany and Iran, Turkey has also stepped up its measures against illegal Afghan migration, with authorities continuing a series of fresh arrests.

According to Afghan media outlet Afghanistan International, Turkish law enforcement conducted targeted operations in the provinces of Sirnak and Bayburt, where they detained six individuals accused of human trafficking along with fifteen Afghan nationals found to be residing illegally.

Following the arrests, Turkish authorities shifted all detained Afghan citizens to deportation facilities, where procedures have been initiated for their return to Afghanistan.
