Punjab enforces zero-tolerance policy against hate speech and incitement on social media

Lahore  (Web Desk): Under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, an extraordinary meeting on law and order was held, resulting in significant decisions aimed at strengthening the state's authority and ensuring the rule of law in the province.

The Punjab government has decided to strictly enforce and further tighten the Loudspeaker Act. Additionally, a major decision has been made to establish a Whistleblower Cell in every district to monitor and report illegal activities.

A special cell has also been set up within the Punjab Police Helpline 15 to address extremist groups and illegal foreign residents. The public has been urged to immediately report any such individuals or activities by calling the helpline.

The provincial government has announced strict measures against extremist group advertisements, images, and placards, and will take action to remove such content. Furthermore, the government has decided to accelerate efforts to curb illegal weapons and eliminate mafia-like activities. The government has made it clear that any culture of extortion (Dalla) and criminal gangs will not be tolerated.

The Punjab government also decided to make Peace Committees more effective and active, with these committees now being involved in ongoing operations to improve the law and order situation. Moreover, the government plans to introduce mobile police stations to provide services to citizens at their doorsteps.

The government has reiterated that combing operations and actions will target only extremist groups and not any specific religious sect or belief.

All district administrations are now required to submit daily reports on operations against illegal foreign residents. They must also provide updates on how many such residents are involved in business activities and how many have been sent for deportation.

The Punjab government has warned the public not to rent properties to illegal residents. Anyone who does so will face legal action under the Rent and Passport Acts.

Additionally, strict actions will be taken under the PECA Act against individuals spreading hate material on social media. Punjab has implemented a zero-tolerance policy towards hate speech and incitement on social media.
