PM Shehbaz welcomes Pakistan's sovereign rating upgrade from 'B-' to 'B'

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has welcomed the decision by international credit rating agency S&P Global Ratings to upgrade Pakistan’s sovereign credit rating from ‘B Minus’ to ‘B’, calling it a major achievement for the country’s economy.

In a statement issued today, the prime minister said the rating improvement reflects growing international confidence in the government’s economic policies, fiscal management, reform agenda, and continued efforts to stabilize the economy.

Shehbaz Sharif said the upgraded rating demonstrates that measures taken to enhance economic stability, strengthen the taxation system, reduce the fiscal deficit, and increase foreign exchange reserves are producing positive outcomes.

He noted that the government made difficult but essential economic decisions, whose results are now being acknowledged globally.

The prime minister expressed hope that the improved rating would help restore investor confidence, attract greater foreign investment, create new economic opportunities, and support sustainable growth.

He also appreciated Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, the government’s economic team, and relevant institutions for their efforts in achieving the milestone.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to economic reforms, Shehbaz Sharif said efforts would continue to establish a strong and sustainable foundation for Pakistan’s economy.
