Govt approved deployment of army, civil armed forces for Nov 23 by-elections

Islamabad (Web Desk): The Interior Ministry on Friday approved the deployment of the Pakistan Army and civil armed forces to support the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) ahead of the by-elections on November 23.

This move comes after a formal request from the ECP, aimed at ensuring that the voting process across all constituencies proceeds smoothly and without incident.

According to officials, the civil armed forces will serve as a second line of support, remaining on standby or ready to respond quickly to any law and order situations at polling stations.

The Pakistan Army, meanwhile, has been assigned as a third-tier responder in a Quick Reaction Force setup, prepared to act immediately if any unexpected security challenges arise.

Authorities emphasized that the role of both the Army and civil armed forces is strictly supportive, designed to strengthen the ECP’s ability to conduct the elections safely and efficiently, protect voters, and prevent any disruptions.

The Interior Ministry underlined that this deployment reflects a coordinated effort among federal authorities and security agencies to provide a secure environment for the November 23 by-polls.
