Lahore (Web Desk): In the first qualifier of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10, Quetta Gladiators outclassed Islamabad United by 30 runs to book their place in the tournament final.
The match, held at Gaddafi Stadium, saw Quetta win the toss and opt to bat first. Saud Shakeel was dismissed early, but Finn Allen and Rilee Rossouw built a solid 44-run partnership. Rossouw departed for 16, Hasan Nawaz scored 6, while Finn Allen contributed a quick 41 runs.
Later, Faheem Ashraf and Dinesh Chandimal delivered explosive innings to push the total to a strong finish. Chandimal remained not out on 48, while Faheem added an impactful 45 runs, helping Quetta post 209/6 in their 20 overs.
Chasing 210, Islamabad suffered an early blow as Alex Hales was dismissed without scoring. Sahibzada Farhan and van der Dussen put together a 71-run stand, but both fell shortly after, scoring 52 and 35 runs respectively.
Skipper Shadab Khan managed 16 runs, while Agha Salman fought back with a well-made 44. However, no other batter was able to anchor the innings, and Islamabad were bowled out for 179 in the final over.
Usman Tariq was the pick of the bowlers for Quetta with 3 wickets, while Faheem Ashraf, Mohammad Amir, and Mohammad Wasim Jr. grabbed 2 wickets each, playing a key role in restricting Islamabad.
With this win, Quetta Gladiators advance directly to the PSL 10 Final. Islamabad United will now have another chance to qualify through Qualifier 2, where they’ll face the winner of the Eliminator match between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings, scheduled for tomorrow.
