Nation celebrates Eid-ul-Fitr with religious zeal and prayers for peace and unity

Islamabad (Web Desk): Eid al-Fitr is being celebrated across the country today (Saturday) with religious devotion and traditional enthusiasm.

Thousands of Eid congregations were held in the federal capital as well as in all four provinces, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, where millions of Muslims participated.

Special prayers were offered for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan, as well as for the welfare of Muslim Ummah worldwide.

The largest gathering took place at Faisal Mosque in Islamabad, while Eid prayers were also offered at major mosques and open grounds across cities, including Badshahi Mosque in Lahore, Memon Mosque in Karachi, and Jamia Masjid Darvesh in Peshawar.

Strict security arrangements were in place to ensure that citizens could perform their religious duties in a peaceful environment.

Following the prayers, emotional scenes were witnessed as special supplications were made for the country’s security, development, prosperity, and economic stability.

Religious scholars and prayer leaders emphasized unity among Muslims in their sermons and also offered special prayers for the oppressed people of Palestine and Kashmir, as well as for martyrs.

After the conclusion of the congregations, people warmly embraced one another and exchanged Eid greetings, reflecting the spirit of brotherhood and compassion that defines the occasion. 
Sweets were shared widely, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Citizens noted that while Eid is a time of joy and celebration, it also serves as a reminder to extend kindness and include the less privileged in the festivities, reinforcing the values of generosity and social harmony.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended Eid greetings to the nation and called for greater unity among Muslims in ‘testing times’.

In his message on the occasion, President Zardari stated that Eid-ul-Fitr symbolizes a divine reward for the worship, patience, piety, and sacrifices observed during the holy month of Ramadan.

"This day gives us the message of starting a new spiritual life with the mercy and forgiveness of Allah and a sense of servitude to the Almighty,” he said.

The president said that the main message of Eid is piety, self-accountability and moral purity. "The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said: “Whoever fasts during Ramadan because of his faith and in the hope of reward, all his past and future sins will be forgiven.”

The president remarked that Eid serves as a reminder that true success lies in applying the teachings of Ramadan in everyday life. 

He said that patience, tolerance, compassion, justice, and brotherhood are the core values that help build both an ideal individual and a strong, united nation.

President Zardari further stated, “Eid ul Fitr is a day to promote mutual love, brotherhood and social harmony, and it encourages us to share our joys with the needy, orphans and deprived classes around us and to strengthen the sense of responsibility in society.

“Today, we must also renew our commitment to national unity, constitutional supremacy and the rule of law. The development, stability and prosperity of Pakistan are the shared responsibility of all of us,” he asserted.

President Zardari also prayed that Allah Almighty may enable us to confront the troubles in the region in such a way that the unity of the Muslim Ummah remains intact and peace prevails throughout the world.

“I pray that Allah Almighty may accept our prayers, bless Pakistan with peace, security and stability and grant us the ability to move forward with unity and consensus. Amen!” he added.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also conveyed warm greetings to Muslims in Pakistan and across the world on the occasion of Eid.

“Today’s blessed day is a manifestation of Allah’s special mercy and boundless grace for us,” he said in his message

“Today, all Muslims thank Allah Almighty for granting us the joy of Eid after the special worship of Ramadan," Shehbaz said and added, " May Allah accept our worship and enable us to implement Islamic values in our practical lives,” he said.

PM Shehbaz described Eid as a reflection of Allah’s promise of reward after patience and perseverance, adding that it renews the spirit of sacrifice, unity, service to humanity, and collective responsibility.

Highlighting the importance of social care, the premier said, “As a nation, we have to share the joyous moments of Eid with the weaker sections of society. In the holy month of Ramadan, the government completed the digital wallet system for the dignified financial assistance of the vulnerable,” he noted.

He emphasized, “Collective responsibility and cooperation are the real guarantee of national progress and prosperity.”

PM Shehbaz also referred to the suffering of people in conflict-affected regions, stating, “On this occasion of joy of Eid and gratitude, our hearts also grieve for the people of Gaza and other conflict-affected areas in the Middle East.

"Their suffering is a clear reminder of the dire need for greater unity in the Muslim Ummah, so that together we can promote justice, dignity and lasting peace.

"At a time when the world is in turmoil and instability, our greatest strength is our unity,” he remarked.

PM Shehbaz prayed for stronger unity among Muslims and collective efforts for the welfare of humanity.

“As a nation, Pakistan prays for peace, security and stability around the world. We pray to Allah that the blessed time of Eid strengthen the atmosphere of global peace, justice and fairness, tolerance and brotherhood,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Armed Forces of Pakistan also extended Eid greetings to the nation.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), on behalf of the armed forces, Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu extended their “heartiest Eidul Fitr greetings to all Pakistanis.”

“Eid reflects the enduring values of unity, compassion, and gratitude. For armed forces of Pakistan, the true spirit of Eid lies in the honour of serving and defending the motherland, even away from their families, to ensure peace and security for the nation, the statement said.”

The armed forces also paid tribute to the courage and sacrifices of their personnel and acknowledged the continued support of their families.

“May this Eid bring peace, prosperity, and blessings to Pakistan and the Muslim Ummah,” the ISPR said.
