Israeli attacks intended to sabotage US-Iran nuclear talks: Erdogan

Istanbul (Web Desk): Turkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdogan strongly criticized Israel's recent military actions, asserting that its attacks on Iran were deliberately timed to disrupt upcoming nuclear negotiations between Tehran and the United States (US).

Speaking at a foreign ministers’ meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul, he argued that these actions were a clear indication that Israel is not interested in resolving regional tensions through diplomatic channels.

President Erdogan defended Iran's response to the attacks, describing its measures as both natural and justified under the right of self-defence.

He directly accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of deliberately avoiding diplomacy in favor of escalating conflict, claiming that such an approach only serves to inflame tensions across the region.

The Turkish leader went on to condemn Israel's broader regional strategy, highlighting its military operations in Yemen, Lebanon, and Syria. He stated that Israel has transformed Gaza into a massive zone of destruction, further destabilizing the Middle East.

Calling for a collective international response, President Erdogan urged influential nations not to fall for what he termed Israel’s “poison” and instead to pursue peaceful solutions through dialogue, warning against the dangers of allowing the situation to spiral into a wider conflict.

He appealed to Muslim-majority countries to step up their efforts in holding Israel accountable, encouraging punitive actions grounded in international law and guided by resolutions passed by the United Nations (UN).
