Rawalpindi (Web Desk): An anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi granted interim bail to Bushra Bibi, the wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former premier Imran Khan, in connection with 32 cases tied to a protest on November 26.
The decision was announced by ATC Special Judge Amjad Ali Shah, who approved former first lady’s bail until January 13, providing her with some relief while the legal proceedings continue.
These cases span several districts, including Rawalpindi, Attock, and Chakwal, and are related to the violent aftermath of the protest.
Bushra Bibi attended the hearing, where she presented the required surety bonds to secure her temporary release. After her bail was granted, she left the court and is expected to return for the next hearing in mid-January.
This development is part of the larger legal troubles facing Bushra and other key members of PTI.
Alongside her husband, Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi has faced a string of charges, including those related to the violent clashes that followed PTI's “final call” protest.
In addition to the cases tied to the protest, Bushra and Khan are also involved in a high-profile case regarding the deaths of three Rangers personnel, allegedly caused by a vehicle during the demonstration.
The former first lady has been embroiled in multiple cases for months, including one related to the Toshakhana scandal, for which she was granted bail by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in October after spending time in detention.
However, her release is under scrutiny, as the court has warned that her bail could be revoked if she misses further court hearings.
Earlier this month, an arrest warrant was issued for her due to her absence from a scheduled hearing.
Additionally, Bushra Bibi is facing charges in the high-profile Al-Qadir Trust case, involving a settlement of £190 million.
An accountability court recently issued a non-bailable arrest warrant in connection with this case, and the court has yet to announce its final ruling.
