Islamabad (Web Desk): Shafqat Ali Khan, an accomplished career diplomat, has been appointed as the new Spokesperson for Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), replacing Mumtaz Zahra Baloch.
The announcement was made by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar during a press briefing on Thursday.
Dar commended Ms. Baloch for her exemplary service, emphasizing that her contributions would be duly acknowledged through her appointment as Pakistan’s Ambassador to France.
Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, who assumed the spokesperson role in November 2022, will now return to her ambassadorial duties in Paris, succeeding Asim Iftikhar Ahmed, who has transitioned to a new diplomatic assignment as Pakistan’s Additional Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) in Geneva.
Shafqat Ali Khan, currently serving as Additional Secretary for Europe in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, brings with him a wealth of diplomatic experience.
His distinguished career includes previous assignments as Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russia and Poland, Director-General for Europe at the MoFA, and Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva.
