Hekmatyar labels Afghanistan’s situation ‘unacceptable,’ calls for elections

Kabul (Web Desk): Political opposition to the policies of the Taliban government in Afghanistan is reportedly gaining momentum, with increasing criticism over governance and public rights.

Senior Afghan political leader Gulbuddin Hekmatyar, head of Hezb-e-Islami, has termed the current system “unacceptable,” calling for urgent political reforms.

In a recent statement, Hekmatyar said that the prevailing situation in Afghanistan does not align with the aspirations of its people. He stressed that transparent elections and the transfer of power to elected representatives are the only viable path forward.

He further stated that one-sided governance cannot continue and emphasized the need for immediate reforms to address the country’s political challenges.

Reports indicate growing public dissatisfaction in Kabul and other provinces, with concerns being raised over governance policies and restrictions affecting daily life.

Analysts say Afghanistan is facing increasing isolation both internationally and domestically, warning that without inclusive political measures, the situation could further deteriorate.
