Trump warns of more tariffs if India continues Russian oil trade

Washington (Web Desk): Washington: US President Donald Trump has warned India that it must make a decisive choice regarding Russian oil imports, cautioning that continued purchases from Moscow could lead to severe economic pressure and heavy trade tariffs.

He asserted that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier pledged to halt Russian oil imports, adding that it is now imperative for New Delhi to honour that commitment.

President Trump further stated that Washington is willing to ease tariffs on China, but only if Beijing takes reciprocal steps beneficial to the United States.

Speaking about the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, the US president said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should accept the ceasefire terms proposed by Russian President Vladimir Putin to restore peace in the region.

Trump also urged the international community to play a proactive role in reviving negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv to ensure lasting stability in Eastern Europe.
