Pakistan, Syria agree to further strengthen bilateral cooperation 

Islamabad (Web Desk): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Thursday held wide-ranging delegation-level talks with Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani who is in Pakistan on official visit.

During the discussion, the two sides reiterated their strong, historic and brotherly relationship and expressed a desire to broaden cooperation across areas of mutual interest.

The talks also covered a wide spectrum of regional and global issues, with particular focus on the situation in Palestine, the Golan Heights, Afghanistan, developments in South Asia and the evolving situation in the Middle East.

DPM Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued commitment to respecting and supporting Syria’s sovereignty, national unity and territorial integrity.

During the meeting, the Syrian foreign minister welcomed the recently signed Makkah Joint Defence Agreement and acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive contribution to efforts aimed at maintaining peace and stability in the region.

He also appreciated Pakistan’s role in seeking to ease tensions surrounding the US-Iran situation.

Both sides agreed to maintain regular engagement and further develop bilateral cooperation, underscoring their shared commitment to advancing peace, stability and prosperity in the region and beyond.
