Urumqi (Web Desk): President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday visited the Urban Operations and Management Centre in Urumqi, where he was received by the Mayor of the city along with the Vice Governor of Xinjiang.
The presidential delegation was briefed on the functioning of the Centre, which digitally connects more than 30 city departments and facilitates citizens with over 200 services.
Officials explained that the facility acts as a centralized platform, ensuring instant coordination in areas such as healthcare, education, traffic safety, public utilities, and emergency management.
President Zardari showed keen interest in the advanced digital setup and lauded the vision behind its creation and operation.
He noted that the model offers important insights for Pakistan’s own urban management and expressed the hope that planners back home would adapt similar systems according to local needs.
Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, Pakistan’s Ambassador to China, and the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan were also present on the occasion.
