PM Shehbaz says Pakistan’s economy on stable track, moving toward growth

Jahanian (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday reaffirmed that Pakistan’s economy had regained stability, with encouraging financial trends reflecting the nation’s steady march toward growth.

During a meeting with ministers, parliamentarians, and members of the Punjab Assembly at the residence of Member of National Assembly (MNA) Chaudhry Iftikhar Nazir in Jahanian, the premier said that his government had inherited an extremely fragile economy and was compelled to sign an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to rescue the country from default.

PM Shehbaz noted that over the past eighteen months, both the federal and Punjab governments had strived tirelessly to deliver relief and progress.

He expressed appreciation for Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and her team’s dedicated service, particularly their quick response to recent floods and their impressive performance in improving health, education, transport, and road infrastructure across the province.

He emphasized that his administration was working selflessly for Pakistan’s prosperity, guided by honesty, commitment, and determination.

Speaking on defence matters, the prime minister recalled Pakistan’s triumph in the four-day war against India, crediting the bravery of the armed forces and the prayers of the people for that success.

“Pakistan’s armed forces led by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber wrote a new chapter as they resoundingly defeated India,” he observed adding the government also achieved success on the diplomatic front and signed a defence pact with Saudi Arabia.

PM shared details of his recent visits to New York and Washington, where he met US President Donald Trump and worked alongside Muslim leaders to halt the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

He described the situation in Gaza as heart-wrenching, with civilians, including women and children, losing their lives and vital infrastructure such as schools and hospitals being destroyed.

PM Shehbaz said that through the collective efforts of Islamic nations and diplomatic engagement with President Trump, a ceasefire was eventually achieved, bringing an end to the massacre.

Calling for unity among political stakeholders, the prime minister urged all leaders to join hands in driving Pakistan’s economic recovery in line with the ideals of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal.

He acknowledged that Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir was extending full support to the government’s efforts for economic advancement.

PM Shehbaz also congratulated the newly elected chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and assured him of complete cooperation from the federal government for the province’s development.

He added that similar support was being provided to the governments of Balochistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and Gilgit-Baltistan to ensure public welfare and progress.

Earlier, the prime minister visited the residence of MNA Muhammad Khan Daha in Khanewal, where he offered Fateha for the late former Punjab provincial minister Haji Irfan Ahmed Khan Daha.
