5 civilians martyred, 4 terrorists killed as security forces foil suicide attack in North Waziristan

Mir Ali (Web Desk): Security forces on Saturday thwarted a suicide attack orchestrated by the Indian-sponsored Fitna al Khawarij in Mir Ali area of North Waziristan, killing four terrorists involved in the assault.

According to security sources confirmed that three women and two children lost their lives in the despicable act of terrorism, which targeted civilians near the Khaddi Post area.

The attackers attempted to carry out a suicide bombing but were intercepted and neutralised before they could inflict greater harm.

The Gul Bahadur faction of the Khawarij outfit later claimed responsibility for the blast.

Officials disclosed that members of this group continue to operate from Afghanistan, where they are being sheltered by the Afghan Taliban.

Separately, security forces eliminated two more terrorists belonging to the same network during an intelligence-based operation in the Mughal Kot sector of Bannu. A cache of heavy weapons was also seized from their possession.

According to security sources, the terrorists, increasingly weakened by successive defeats at the hands of Pakistan’s armed forces, have resorted to attacking unarmed civilians in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa out of sheer frustration.

“Such cowardly acts cannot weaken the resolve of our troops, who remain steadfast in their mission to wipe out terrorism from the country,” the security forces reaffirmed.
