Karachi court extends Anmol alias Pinky's physical remand in murder case

Karachi (Web Desk): A local court in Karachi on Monday allowed investigators to keep alleged drug trafficker Anmol alias Pinky, in physical custody for another four days in connection with a murder case registered at Baghdadi Police Station.

Police officials stated that the murder case was filed after the woman had already been taken into custody over accusations of operating an organised narcotics supply chain in the city.

Pinky was reportedly arrested on May 12 during a joint operation carried out by police and a civilian intelligence agency from her residence in Karachi’s Garden locality.

According to authorities the raid led to the recovery of weapons, cocaine, and other narcotics estimated to be worth nearly Rs1.5 million.

Investigators stated that she had been managing a widespread drug distribution network across the port city.

The accused, however, denied the allegations and maintained that she had actually been detained in Lahore around 15 days earlier before being shifted to Karachi.

During earlier proceedings held on May 13, investigators informed the court that 1,540 grams of cocaine along with 6,970 grams of raw material had been seized during the operation.

Sources connected to the investigation said the suspect disclosed during initial questioning that she allegedly paid large sums of money every month as bribes to several police stations in Karachi.

Investigators further claimed that she admitted to being involved in narcotics trade worth more than Rs20 million per month within the city.

Addressing a press conference on May 15, Karachi Additional Inspector General Azad Khan said investigators had discovered foreign links associated with Pinky’s alleged drug network. He added that some women based in Lahore were also suspected of participating in the operation.

According to police, the network allegedly included six African nationals along with female accomplices from Lahore, while raids were continuing in an effort to arrest the remaining suspects connected to the case.
