Security forces foil major terror plot, destroy explosives-laden vehicle in KP's Wana

Wana (Web Desk): Security forces foiled a major terrorist attack after carrying out a timely intelligence-based operation (IBO) that neutralised an explosives-laden vehicle before it could be deployed in a suicide bombing.

According to security sources, the operation was conducted in the Ghwakhwa area of Wana in South Waziristan Lower following intelligence indicating preparations for a large-scale terrorist assault.

The vehicle intercepted during the operation had been loaded with explosives for use in a suicide attack.

As a result of the operation, the explosives-laden vehicle and a motorcycle were destroyed. One khariji terrorist was killed, while five others were injured, the security sources said.

During the operation, security forces demonstrated a high degree of professionalism, ensuring the safety of innocent civilians and protecting their lives and property, the sources added.

The security sources said that the suspected suicide vehicle had been kept under continuous surveillance for three days. The forces deliberately waited until it had moved away from inhabited areas before launching the operation, significantly reducing the possibility of civilian casualties.

“The successful operation reflects the unwavering resolve and operational readiness of the security forces,” the security sources said.
