T20 World Cup: Pakistan beat Namibia by 102 runs, qualify for Super Eight 

Colombo (Web Desk): Pakistan stormed into the Super 8 stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup group stage match at the SSC Cricket Ground in Colombo, Sri Lanka, with a commanding 102-run victory over Namibia, delivering a clinical all-round performance highlighted by Sahibzada Farhan’s unbeaten century and a destructive bowling spell from Usman Khan.

After winning the toss, captain Salman Ali Agha opted to bat first — a decision that paid rich dividends. Pakistan suffered an early setback when opener Saim Ayub was dismissed for 14, but Farhan steadied the innings with remarkable composure and authority.

The right-hander went on to register his maiden World Cup century, crafting an unbeaten 100 off just 57 deliveries. His innings featured four towering sixes and 11 elegant boundaries, anchoring Pakistan’s dominance at the crease.

Salman Ali Agha contributed a brisk 38 from 23 balls, maintaining the momentum through the middle overs, while Shadab Khan added further impetus with an unbeaten 36 that included three sixes. Pakistan closed their allotted 20 overs at an imposing 199 for 3, setting Namibia a daunting target of 200.

In reply, Namibia never found their footing against Pakistan’s disciplined and aggressive bowling attack. Under sustained pressure, the batting lineup unraveled and was bowled out for 97 in the 18th over.

Usman Khan led the charge with an outstanding four-wicket haul, dismantling the middle order and effectively sealing the contest. Shadab Khan complemented him with three wickets, while Mohammad Nawaz and debutant Salman Mirza chipped in with one apiece.

Pakistan had rested frontline bowlers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Abrar Ahmed for the fixture, handing opportunities to Khawaja Nafay and Salman Mirza in the playing XI — a rotation that proved effective as the team maintained its balance and intensity

With qualification secured, Pakistan now faces a sterner examination in the Super 8 stage. They are scheduled to meet New Zealand on February 21, England on February 24, and Sri Lanka on February 28.

The tournament’s semi-finals will be played on March 4 and 5, with the final set for March 8, when the new world champion will be crowned.
