Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Senator Mushahidullah Khan passed away in Islamabad early Thursday morning at the age of 68.
Muhammad Zubair, the PML-N leader and spokesperson for Maryam Nawaz, said that Senator Mushahidullah was unwell for quite a long time.
PML-N senior leadership including Vice President Maryam expressed grief over the death of the vocal leader in the Senate and prayed for his higher ranks in the hereafter.
PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz wrote on Twitter, “Senator Mushahidullah Khan, MNS’s loyal and exceptional companion left us. I am shattered to hear the sad news. Will never be able to forget his fatherly affection & love. Huge huge loss. May Allah SWT shower upon him every blessing that HE has reserved for the afterlife. Ameen,” Maryam wrote on her official handle.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has expressed grief on demise of Senator Mushahiddulah Khan, the Radio Pakistan reported.
In his condolence message to the bereaved family, he said Mushahidullah Khan was seasoned politician and a good human being and prayed for the departed soul.
Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid has expresed grief and sorrow over the death of Senator Mushahidullah Khan.
In his message, he said Mushahidullah was an active political worker and parliamentarian.
Senator Faisal Javed Khan of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) also expressed grief over the death of Senator Mushahidullah and said that he will miss him dearly.
Mushahidullah was a trusted aide of Nawaz ever since the latter was forced into exile. First appointed party information secretary and later made a senator in 2009, he also served as the party spokesperson for many years.
His funeral prayers would be held after Zuhr prayers in Islamabad's Sector H-11 later on Thursday, according to his family.
The PML-N had awarded a ticket to Mushahidullah Khan on general seat for the upcoming Senate’s elections.
Mushahidullah Khan was the chairperson of the Senate Standing Committee on Aviation and a member of the Council of Chairpersons and various others standing committees.
The late Senator was also part of the parliamentary committees on Appointment of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and Members of the Election Commission of Pakistan, Kashmir, and National Security.
