Islamabad (Agencies): The National Assembly Speaker on Monday adjourned the session of the lower house following a ruckus by treasury members during Leader of Opposition Shehbaz Sharif’s speech.
Both Houses of the Parliament met at the Parliament House in Islamabad to discuss budget proposals for the next fiscal year.
During the last session of the NA, as per the parliamentary tradition, the opposition leader starts a general discussion on the budget, but this time ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) did not allow Shehbaz to make a speech by constantly creating disturbances.
On Sunday, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari met Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz at jati Umran in Raiwind.
A joint notification issued shortly after the Maryam-Bilawal meeting read: "Lengthy consultations took place between the two leaders.
"Leaders from both the parties were part of the consultations [wherein] the current situation of the country was analysed in detail," it added.
"Both [Maryam and Bilawal] agreed that all aspects of life in the country are on a downtrend.
"Country is being pushed into deep quicksand of economic deterioration [and all economic indicators pointing to an extreme crisis," the notification added.
