Taliban using Indian funds for cross-border terrorism against Pakistan, says ex-Afghan army chief

Islamabad (Web Desk): Former Afghan Army Chief Lieutenant General Sami Sadat has lent support to Pakistan’s long-standing claims about cross-border terrorism, alleging that the Taliban receive financial assistance from India and use those resources to finance militant activities against Pakistan.

During a media interview, General Sadat said the Taliban enjoy close relations with India and claimed that money provided to the group is subsequently distributed to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and militants active in Balochistan to conduct operations on Pakistani soil.

He further alleged that Afghanistan’s current rulers are offering both logistical and operational support to anti-Pakistan militant organisations, allowing them to organise and launch attacks across the border.

The former Afghan commander also claimed that foreign funding is being redirected to sustain militant networks, alleging that Indian financial support reaches groups identified as Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan to carry out terrorist attacks inside Pakistan.

Security analysts say General Sadat’s remarks are in line with concerns Pakistan has repeatedly raised over the alleged use of Afghan territory by militant groups to plan and execute attacks against the country.
