President Zardari felicitates Indonesian leadership on Independence Day

Islamabad (Web Desk): President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday extended his greetings to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, the Indonesian government and its people on the occasion of the country’s Independence Day, marked each year on August 17.

In his letter to President Prabowo, Asif Ali Zardari said that the national day served as a reminder of the courage, perseverance and resolve demonstrated by the Indonesian people during their struggle for freedom.

He also paid tribute to the country’s founding leaders for their role in securing independence.

The president said Pakistan and Indonesia had maintained warm and longstanding relations, strengthened by historical connections, mutual confidence, shared religious values and cooperation on bilateral, regional and global matters.

He observed that ties between Islamabad and Jakarta had steadily developed, with both sides increasing collaboration in several sectors, including commerce, investment, defence, healthcare, education and exchanges between their peoples.

President Zardari expressed the hope that the momentum created by President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to Pakistan last year would lead to even closer ties and greater cooperation between the two countries in the years ahead.

He concluded by wishing the people of Indonesia continued peace, development and prosperity.
