Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz in Baku on three-day official visit

Baku (Web Desk): Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz on Saturday arrived in Baku on an official three-day visit to Azerbaijan.

At Baku Airport, she was received by Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister for Defence Industry, Mehman Bakhshiyev.

During her stay, the Punjab CM will be hosted as a special guest of the Government of Azerbaijan and is scheduled to meet Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on May 17.

She is also set to take part in the World Urban Forum and will speak at the World Leaders Summit held at the Baku Olympic Stadium, where she is expected to present Punjab’s housing scheme “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” as an example of an affordable housing model.

The initiative will showcase Punjab’s approach to low-cost housing development, which officials say is focused on improving housing access for low- and middle-income households.

Her delegation comprises Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Information Minister Azma Bukhari, Housing Minister Bilal Yasin, Sports Minister Faisal Ayub, Agriculture Minister Ashiq Hussain Kirmani, and Special Assistant Ali Dar.

The visit is aimed at deepening cooperation between Punjab and Azerbaijan in areas such as urban development, housing solutions, and broader bilateral relations.
