Islamabad (Web Desk) Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti resigned from the position as he is reportedly planning to contest upcoming general elections.
According to sources Bugti is likely to contest the polls on Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) ticket.
They said that the resignation was submitted on December 13 but was accepted on Friday by caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar.
The sources said that the outgoing interior minister would contest elections from his constituency.
Sarfraz Bugti, 42, is a member of the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP). He was elected as a senator from Pakistan’s Balochistan province in 2021.
He previously also served as interior minister for Balochistan after winning the election in 2013.
It is pertinent to mention that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), following the Supreme Court (SC) order on Friday issued the election schedule for the forthcoming polls on February 8, 2024.
