Islamabad (Web Desk): Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, daughter of late former prime minister Shaheed Benazir Bhutto and sister of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari took oath as a Member of the National Assembly (MNA) on Monday.
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq administered the oath to her, who later signed the registration roll.
Aseefa Bhutto was elected unopposed in the by-election in NA-207 Shaheed Benazirabad (Nawabshah).
Her father Asif Ali Zardari had won the seat in the general election 2024 on February 8 and later vacated it after his election as President of Pakistan.
Meanwhile, the joint session of parliament has been rescheduled.
Originally scheduled for April 16 (Tuesday), the joint session will now take place on April 18 (Thursday). President Asif Ali Zardari is expected to address the combined sitting of both the houses of parliament.
This will mark the commencement of the new parliamentary year.
The president summoned the joint session of parliament while exercising of the powers conferred by Article 54(1) and 56(3) of the Constitution.
