Quetta (Web Desk): At least two policemen were martyred and another injured in blast near police van in Kuchlak near Balochistan’s capital Quetta.
According to reports, the police officials were shifted to a hospital in critical condition, however, they both succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead by doctors after examination.
Police and other law enforcement officials arrived at the scene and cordoned off the area to collect evidence, as investigation into the incident went underway.
As per the police sources, 8 to 10 kilogramme explosive material was used in the time bomb on Bostan road that targetted the police van.
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti condemned the explosion and paid tribute to the martyred officials, expressing heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the family.
Ina press release, the Balochistan CM said that the eternal sacrifices of Balochistan Police, levies and security forces against terrorism cannot be neglected.
He added that the government will only rest once terrorists and their facilitators have been eliminated.
“The entire country is standing alongside the brave forces in the war against terrorism,” CM Bugti said.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday strongly condemned terrorist attack on police vehicle in Quetta’s Kuchlak area in Balochistan province.
The Prime Minister’s Office issued a statement expressing the prime minister’s condolences and prayers for the souls of the martyred policemen to rest in peace.
He also extended wishes for strength and patience to bereaved families during this challenging period.
The prime minister promised to swiftly hold terrorists accountable and reiterated the nation’s unwavering dedication to supporting security forces in combating terrorism.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also paid tribute to the two martyred officials and expressed heartfelt sympathies and condolences for the family of the deceased.
As per a statement issued by the interior ministry, Mohsin Naqvi prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured driver and saluted the sacrifice.
“Balochistan Police has made eternal sacrifices in the war against terrorism,” the interior minister said.
He added that the unwavering determination to fight terrorism could not be defeated.
“This war is the entire country’s war and, with the support of the people, will continue until the end of the last terrorist and facilitator,” the interior minister said.
