Saif Ali Khan and his family win long-running legal battle over ancestral land

Bhopal (Web Desk): Bollywood’s renowned actor Saif Ali Khan and his family have finally achieved a major victory in a prolonged and complex legal dispute concerning their ancestral land in Bhopal.

This legal battle, which lasted nearly 25 years, ended with a favorable ruling for the Pataudi family, bringing this long-standing dispute to a close.

According to media reports, the property in question is valued at approximately 16,000 crore (around $1.6 billion). It is located in the Niyapura area of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, and covers a total area of 16.62 acres.

The District Court of Madhya Pradesh, in its verdict, reinstated the Pataudi family’s ownership of the land, stating that the property legally belongs to Saif Ali Khan, his mother, veteran actress Sharmila Tagore, and his sisters. This decision is being hailed as a significant legal victory for the family.

The dispute first surfaced in 1998 when Aqeel Ahmad and other individuals filed a lawsuit, claiming the land was not owned by the Pataudi family, but by their ancestors.

The plaintiffs argued that Nawab Hamidullah Khan of the former Bhopal state had gifted the property to their forefathers in 1936, thereby entitling them to ownership.

However, during the prolonged court proceedings, the plaintiffs failed to provide any credible or substantial documentary evidence to support their claim.

After thoroughly reviewing the case records and arguments, the court concluded that no authentic evidence existed regarding the transfer or gifting of the land. Due to the lack of evidence and failure to meet legal requirements, the court dismissed the claim entirely.

Following the court’s decision, the Pataudi family’s legal ownership of the 16.62-acre land in Niyapura, Bhopal, has been reaffirmed, bringing an end to this historic and lengthy legal dispute.
