DPM Dar, US Charge d’Affaires discusses bilateral cooperation and regional situation

Islamabad (Web Desk): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a meeting with US Charge d’Affaires Natalie Baker, with discussions focusing on bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and the United States as well as key regional developments.

According to the Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson, the two sides reviewed recent developments in the region and exchanged views on the evolving regional situation.

DPM Dar underscored the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in promoting peace and stability in the region. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to playing a constructive role in advancing lasting peace and security.

Natalie Baker appreciated Pakistan’s efforts and role in promoting regional peace and stability. The meeting also covered prospects for further expanding cooperation between Pakistan and the United States in areas of mutual interest.

The FO added that the US envoy also conveyed her greetings to Ishaq Dar on the occasion of Pakistan’s Independence Day. Both sides agreed on the importance of strengthening bilateral relations and pursuing joint efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.

Meanwhile, Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide met Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, with the two sides discussing ways to enhance bilateral relations and exchanging views on the regional situation.

The meeting also focused on strengthening cooperation in counterterrorism, preventing illegal immigration, police training and legal assistance.

The two sides also discussed the situation in Afghanistan and the activities of banned organisations operating from there.

Mohsin Naqvi said Afghan territory continues to be used for terrorist activities against Pakistan.
