At least 7 police personnel martyred in explosion near police vehicle in KP's Lakki Marwat

Lakki Marwat (Web Desk): At least seven police personnel were martyred in a terrorist attack on police vehicle in the Bettani tribal region of Lakki Marwat district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

According to District Police Spokesperson Qudratullah, officials from the Shadikhel police station were performing routine patrol duties when their vehicle was struck by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

The attackers had strategically placed the device along the Shahdikhel-Mastikhel road with the intent of targeting law enforcement officials.

The explosion instantly killed six officers, among them the Station House Officer (SHO) and five constables.

Another officer, who had been critically wounded in the blast, later died in hospital, bringing the total death toll to seven.

The bodies of the martyred and the surviving injured officer were taken to the hospital, and authorities dispatched a substantial police force to the area to hunt down the attackers.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have condemned the terrorist attack on a police vehicle in Lakki Marwat.

In their separate statements, they reaffirmed determination to completely eliminate terrorism from the country.

President Asif Ali Zardari in a statement condemned the attack, offering prayers for the martyrs, and wishing a speedy recovery for the injured. He reaffirmed that the government’s determination to combat terrorism remained resolute and unyielding.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the terrorist bombing targeting a police vehicle in Lakki Marwat on Friday, describing the act as heinous.

He expressed heartfelt sorrow over the deaths of the Station House Officer (SHO) and other officers who lost their lives in the explosion, offering prayers for their posthumous elevation in rank and for resilience and comfort for their grieving families.

PM Shehbaz also extended his wishes for a swift and complete recovery to those injured in the incident.

Stressing the unwavering dedication of Pakistan’s police and security forces, the prime minister affirmed that their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism would not go unrecognized.

He reiterated the government’s firm resolve to eliminate terrorism from the country entirely.
