At least 9 people, including 2 police officials, martyred in Lakki Marwat blast 

Lakki Marwat (Web Desk): A devastating explosion near Naurang police station in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) Lakki Marwat district claimed the lives of at least nine people and left more than 18 others wounded on Tuesday, according to police and medical officials.

According to local authorities, the blast took place close to a rickshaw in the busy Naurang Bazaar area of Sarai Naurang, triggering chaos and fear among residents nearby.

Hospital officials confirmed that the bodies of seven victims were brought to Naurang Hospital after the explosion.

Among those martyred were also two traffic police officials who were present in the area at the time of the incident.
Medical authorities stated that several injured individuals, including women and children, were shifted to the hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, emergency was declared at the Sarai Naurang Hospital following the incident.

Meanwhile, District Police Officer (DPO) Lakki Marwat, Nazir Khan said that the explosion was carried out using a vehicle loaded with more than one maund of explosive material.

He noted that terrorists had now started attacking innocent civilians and added that investigators were examining whether the blast was the result of a suicide bombing or a remotely detonated device.

Separately, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Sohail Afridi directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to submit a report on the incident.

Calling the attack highly tragic, the KP CM assured that the provincial government would provide every possible assistance to those affected.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Tuesday also strongly condemned the explosion in Sarai Naurang Bazaar of Lakki Marwat district, expressing deep grief and sadness over the tragic loss of innocent lives.

He conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the families who lost their loved ones in the incident and said he fully stands with them in their moment of pain. The governor also prayed for the quick recovery of those injured in the blast.

Describing the situation as alarming, he noted that the growing incidents of terrorism across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in the southern regions, were a serious cause of concern.

He urged the provincial authorities to take strong, practical, and sustained steps to ensure law and order and to establish lasting peace in the province.

Faisal Karim Kundi added that those responsible for killing innocent people deserved no leniency, adding that elements working against peace and humanity would ultimately fail in their malicious objectives.

“The sacrifices rendered by the people of the province, police and security forces in the fight against terrorism would not go in vain,” the KP governor said.
