Lakki Marwat: One killed, 9 injured in IED attack on cement factory vehicle

Lakki Marwat (Web Desk): At least one person was killed and 9 others, including two women, were injured when an improvised explosive device (IED) targeted a vehicle carrying cement factoryworkers in Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Monday.

According to police, the explosion occurred on Begukhel Road near Nawarkhel Mor. The victim who lost his life has been identified as Fareedullah, while the injured include Abdul Malik, Umar Khan, Masal Khan, Mir Ahmad, and Syed Jan, all residents of Begukhel village.

Rescue teams from 1122 rushed to the site and transported the wounded to City Hospital in Lakki Marwat. Those in critical condition were later shifted to Bannu for advanced treatment.

Authorities said the attack comes amid a growing wave of violence targeting law enforcement agencies, particularly in KP and Balochistan, since the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan in 2021.

The incident followed a day after four policemen were killed in separate attacks in Lakki Marwat and Bannu. In Sarai Naurang city, Lakki Marwat, unidentified gunmen on motorcycles opened fire on traffic police officers, killing three: Traffic Police In-charge Naurang Jalal Khan, Constable Azizullah, and Constable Abdullah. The attackers escaped immediately after the shooting.

In a separate incident in Bannu, Constable Rashid Khan was shot dead in Mandan while on his way from home to report for duty at the local police station, police confirmed.
