Pakistan hails EU support for Arab, OIC plan to rebuild Gaza

New York (Web Desk): Pakistan has welcomed the European Union’s (EU) backing of the Arab and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) initiatives aimed at the reconstruction of Gaza and the establishment of peace in Palestine, rooted in the Two-State solution.

In a statement at the Security Council meeting on the EU’s engagement with the UN, Pakistan's Ambassador to the UN, Munir Akram, appreciated the EU for its significant humanitarian efforts in providing assistance to those suffering in Gaza and the West Bank.

He also commended the EU for its continued support of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).

Ambassador Akram reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong ties with the EU, emphasizing the depth and breadth of their partnership.

He acknowledged the EU as Pakistan’s primary trade and investment partner, noting that the Generalized Scheme of Preferences (GSP Plus) has played a crucial role in fostering the growth of trade between the two regions.

Ambassador Akram described the GSP Plus framework as a mutually beneficial arrangement, which has helped strengthen economic cooperation between Pakistan and the EU.
