Islamabad (Staff Report/Agencies): Pakistan Tehreek-e Insaf (PTI) candidate Mirza Mohammad Afridi has been elected as Senate deputy chairman.
Out of the ninety eight votes, Afraidi secured fifty four votes whilst the candidate of opposition parties Abdul Ghafoor Haideri bagged forty four votes.
The Newly Elected Deputy Chairman has taken oath of office. Newly-elected Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani administered him the oath.
The election process conducted through secret ballot.
Earlier, the joint candidate of the ruling alliance Sadiq Sanjrani re-elected as the Chairman of Senate.
Out of the total 98 votes polled, Sadiq Sanjrani secured forty eight votes whilst his rival and candidate of opposition parties Yousaf Raza Gilani got 42 votes. Eight votes were rejected.
Later, Sadiq Sanjrani took oath as the Chairman Senate for the second consecutive three year term.
