Punjab to introduce 100 China-made modern buses in underdeveloped districts

Lahore (Web Desk): In a significant move to improve transportation in less-developed areas of the province, the Punjab government has arranged for 100 new, modern buses to be imported from China.

The buses are scheduled to arrive in Pakistan today.

According to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, these state-of-the-art buses will be deployed in districts such as Mianwali, Okara, Nankana Sahib, Muzaffargarh, Vehari, and Pakpattan, where formal and quality public transport services have never existed before.

“These buses are fully electric and environmentally friendly, equipped with Wi-Fi, an automated ticketing system, and accessible features for persons with disabilities,” the CM said.

To make the service affordable for all, the fare has been fixed at just PKR 20, ensuring that even low-income citizens can travel comfortably and with dignity.

Maryam Nawaz added, “This initiative will not only connect remote areas to the urban network but also mark the beginning of a cleaner, more modern public transport era in Punjab.
